On 15 June 2026, Belgium kindly hosted representatives of the Beneluxa Initiative at RIZIV-INAMI in Brussels for the biannual Steering Committee Meeting. The meeting provided an opportunity for member states to take stock of current work, exchange national updates, and set priorities for the coming period.
The Steering Committee addressed a wide range of strategic and organisational topics:
National updates opened the discussions, with country representatives sharing relevant policy developments at the national level across all Beneluxa member states.
Domain Task Force (DTF) updates formed a substantial part of the agenda. The chairs of the DTFs on Information-Sharing and Policy Exchange (ISPE), Health Technology Assessment (HTA), and Pricing and Reimbursement (PR) each presented their latest progress and brought forward questions for Steering Committee guidance. Updates were also provided on the Payer Hub and Policy Working Group (PWG), and on the International Horizon Scanning Initiative (IHSI).
A dedicated session was devoted to the General Manager's report, covering key deliverables from the first six months of his mandate. These included updated Terms of Reference and further strategic documents — reflecting the ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational foundations of the Initiative.
The meeting further included an in-depth discussion on the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) topic, continuing strategic reflections on Beneluxa's position and next steps in this area.
We warmly thank colleagues of RIZIV-INAMI Belgium for hosting this meeting and for their continued support to the Initiative. The constructive exchanges during the Steering Committee Meeting contribute to the ongoing development of the Beneluxa Initiative and its objective of improving patient access to affordable and available medicines through cooperation.
